Introduction:
Every day we make choices—some small, some life-changing.
Some decisions end the moment they are made, but others
require lifelong commitment. Choosing to serve God and
prepare for heaven is the kind of decision that demands
daily attention and continual renewal. In Deuteronomy 30,
God called Israel to “choose life,” a call that still stands
for us today.
Love
the Lord Your God
Jesus declared that loving God with all your heart, soul,
and mind is the greatest commandment (Matthew 22:37–38). Our
love for God must exceed all other affections. When you love
someone deeply, you care about what matters to them. Because
we love God, we must value holiness, truth, and
righteousness (Psalm 93:5; Psalm 33:4–5). The danger is
allowing worldly things—careers, hobbies, entertainment—to
crowd out our devotion. Whenever we choose our own desires
over God’s will, we show where our heart truly lies. To
choose life is to choose to love God above all else.
Obey His Voice
God speaks through His Word. “Faith comes by hearing, and
hearing by the word of God” (Romans 10:17). Like Joshua and
Israel, we must pledge to listen and obey (Joshua 24:24–26).
Jesus asked, “Why do you call Me ‘Lord, Lord,’ and not do
the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46). James taught that
faith without obedience is dead (James 2:17–18, 24). Hearing
the Word of God is not enough; it must be followed by
humble, consistent obedience. When we obey His voice, we
affirm that we have truly chosen life.
Cling to Him
To cling to God is to hold fast, to be inseparably united
with Him (Deuteronomy 10:20). The world constantly tries to
pull us away—from sin, temptation, and even relationships
that test our faith (Romans 8:38–39; Matthew 10:37). Jesus
rebuked lukewarm believers who would not commit fully
(Revelation 3:15–16). We must be steadfast and unmovable in
our devotion, trusting God’s promises and surrendering our
will completely. When we cling to Him, we live with
assurance and purpose.
Conclusion:
You and I have the power to choose life. God’s invitation is
simple yet profound—love Him, obey His voice, and cling to
Him daily. Every decision that draws us closer to God is a
step toward eternal life. Choose today to live for Him and
remain faithful forever.
Therefore Choose Life Sermon Outline:
Introduction:
Choosing life with God requires daily commitment
(Deuteronomy 30:11–20).
I. Love the Lord Your God
Love God above all others (Matthew 22:37–38).
Prioritize what is important to Him—truth,
righteousness, holiness (Psalm 93:5; Psalm 33:4–5).
Avoid distractions that diminish devotion.
II. Obey His Voice
His Word is how we hear Him (Romans 10:17; Joshua
24:24–26).
Listening must lead to action (Luke 6:46; James
1:22–25).
Faith is proven through obedience (James 2:17–18,
24).
III. Cling to Him
Hold fast to the Lord with steadfast faith
(Deuteronomy 10:20).
Resist forces that separate us from Him (Romans
8:38–39; Matthew 10:37).
Stay fully committed; do not be lukewarm (Psalm
37:5; Revelation 3:15–16).
Conclusion:
God’s call remains: love, obey, and cling to Him.
Choosing life means choosing daily faithfulness.
Call to Action:
God allows us to decide where we will spend eternity. Every
moment we either move closer to Him or drift farther away.
Choose today to love God more deeply, obey His Word more
faithfully, and hold fast to Him more firmly. Eternal life
